How to Volunteer

Follow these easy steps. If you have questions along the way, feel free to contact us!

1.  Complete our Online Application Form - For university/college students, please clearly identify that you are a post-secondary volunteer.

2.
Attend an interview with Volunteer Services. - Volunteer Services will contact you once your Application Form is complete.  We will arrange a time to meet to discuss your skills and interests, and available volunteer positions based on your gift of time.

3.  Provide documentation of the following:
Two-step Mantoux test (TB test): You only need a one-step TB test if you have had a two-step TB test done in the past (with proof of your two-step from the past).  If your TB test is current (within 1 year), you do not need another TB test.  If your TB test has tested positive in the past, please provide a copy of your current chest x-ray.  Free TB tests are available at Providence Care, click here for the schedule.
Up-to-date immunization record: Your physician will be able to provide you with your current up-to-date immunization record.  Public Health should be able to provide you with proof by providing them with your health card.  If you have no records, book an appointment with your physician or public health and request Titres (blood work to prove your immune to mumps, measles, chicken pox, rubella - all the vaccines you would have received as a child).

4.  Complete a Criminal Reference Check form – apply ONLINE or visit your local Police Station.

5.  Provide letter(s) of reference or download the Providence Care Volunteer Services Confidential Reference Request Form and ask your references to send it to us.

6. Attend an orientation session.  Contact Volunteer Services to schedule your orientation session.

7. Start volunteering with Providence Care!
