Chief nursing officer congratulates new post graduate residents in first provincial mental health nursing residency program

September 4, 2008 - Nursing residency students at Providence Care who are considering specializing in mental health will get an official welcome from Ontario’s Chief Nursing Officer Vanessa Burkoski September 5th, during a special ceremony to launch the new Mental Health Nursing Residency Program. 

 

Providence Care announces new Board Chair, Vice Chairs

June 24, 2008 - Providence Care is pleased to announce Jim Barton as the new Chair of the organization’s Board of Directors. Mr. Barton, a former Chief Operating Officer at Dupont Canada Inc., stepped into the role this afternoon at the Providence Care Annual General Meeting, replacing outgoing Chair Larry Norman.

 

Providence Care, the Kingston-based $108-million dollar health care provider, also announced Glen Wood and Peter McGeer as the Board’s new Vice Chairs.

 

Summer Volunteer Program lets teens explore health-care professions

April 28, 2008 - Teenagers who are interested in learning more about health care are encouraged to join the summer volunteer program at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston General Hospital or Providence Care’s St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital site.

April 1, 2008 - Kingston City Council made history April 1st when it passed a budget that includes a donation to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation to support the redevelopment of Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care.  The $16-million pledge, to be paid over 12 years, is the largest ever gift made to the hospitals.
 
March 31, 2008 - More than 300 people attended the 9th Annual Providence Care Founders’ Dinner on Saturday. The fundraising dinner, put on by the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, raised money for the redevelopment of Providence Care’s St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital and Mental Health Services sites.
 
March 31, 2008 - Kingston Police have advised Providence Manor that a recent investigation has resulted in charges of sexual assault against a former staff member.
 
March 31, 2008 - Members of the Southeastern Ontario Health Sciences Centre today released information on employees who were paid a salary of $100,000 or more.  The Public Sector Disclosure Act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Ontario goverment disclose the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of these employees annually.
 
February 5, 2008 - Iva Speers, a long-time donor to Kingston’s university hospitals, has left a powerful legacy of education and caring. Speers, who passed in November  2006, has left the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation nearly $1.3 million to create staff education bursaries at Providence Manor. 
 
February, 2008 - Telemedicine services located at Providence Care help patients prepare and recover from major surgery. 
 
January 28, 2008 - Dale Kenney began his new role as President & CEO of Providence Care, the Kingston-based $108-million dollar health care provider, which employs over 1,700 staff in southeastern Ontario.  
 
January 24, 2008 - Providence Care trains CCAC and Community Support Services staff to help the frail elderly connect with services once they’ve left the emergency room.
