RCBIS offers both individual and group services. Each client is assigned a “Primary Counsellor,” one of the well-qualified RCBIS staff who will meet regularly with the client for services and progress reviews; will maintain contact with other team members, family often being a key player (with client consent); and will co-ordinate services internally and externally as required/requested.
RCBIS uses the Participate to Learn model of service: clients identified roles are the basis for their goals; learning is by experience in real-life contexts; and the use of personal and environmental supports enable participation.
Intensity of service is dependent on client need and availability of program resources. Service could be attendance at a monthly group up to 24-hour staffing in an apartment setting. In the 24-hour staffing, overnight asleep staff are available in the event of client need.
RCBIS has a full-time registered neuropsychologist on staff, Dr. Martin Logan. Dr. Logan provides clinical consultation to all the direct service staff. He is also available for neuropsychological assessments of RCBIS clients as well as direct service.
Fees are charged for participants who have access to private rehabilitation funding eg. auto insurance, WSIB, etc. RCBIS provides rehabilitation and support services; clients are responsible for basic living expenses including accommodation, food, and transportation.
