  Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinics 
 

The following specialty clinics are held at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital site, 340 Union Street, in Kingston. A physician's referral is required. Fees are covered by OHIP. The clinics have different phone numbers (listed below) but a common fax: (613) 544-4614.


Acquired Brain Injury Clinic
For adults who have an acquired brain injury of any kind, traumatic or otherwise. The clinic provides medical  assessment of the consequences, severity, and
complications of the acquired brain injury and makes referrals for treatment as needed.

Botulinum Toxin Clinic
Assessment and treatment for focal spasticity due to upper motor neuron injury or disease. For people of all ages with spasticity resulting in severe pain or functional limitations. Assessments are covered by OHIP. The Ministry of Health covers treatment with botulinum toxin for persons over 65 years of age. Third party support can also be obtained (eg. private insurance, WSIB, Easter Seals). Referral: Dr. Bagg (613) 544-4210 for spasticity due to stroke. Dr. Smith (613) 544-1894 for all other causes of spasticity.


EMG (Electrodiagnostic) Clinic
For people of all ages, this clinic assesses peripheral nerve and muscle function using an electrical test of nerve and muscle responses. Referral: (613) 548-7222 ext. 2472.

Neurorehabilitation Clinic
Physiatry assessment of neurological conditions causing functional difficulties. Examples of conditions managed in this clinic include spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, poliomyelitis, peripheral neuropathy and other neurological conditions. Assessment for orthotics also occurs in this clinic, in conjunction with local orthotists. Referral: (613) 544-2413.

Physical Medicine Clinic
Assessment and management of spinal and limb pain problems, either acute or chronic, for persons 16 years or older. This clinic includes subspecialty interests in sports medicine (Dr. Bagg) and performing arts medicine (Dr. Wee). Respiratory Rehabilitation Clinic
For adults experiencing shortness of breath due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, lung disease or surgery (pre & post). The clinic assesses individuals to determine their eligibility for participation in PCCC's Respiratory Rehabilitation Program. If this program is deemed inappropriate, alternate recommendations are made to the referral source. Referral: (613) 548-2339.

Spinal Cord Injury Clinic
Assessment and management of consequences and complications of spinal cord injury or disease for adults. Referral: (613) 544-1894

Stroke Clinic
Assessment and management of consequences of stroke, including botulinum toxin treatment for focal spasticity. Referral: (613) 544-4210.

Adult Neuromuscular Clinic
Multidisciplinary team assessment, mangement and support of persons with progressive neuromuscular disorders (eg. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Mulcular Dystrophy, Spinocerebellar ataxia), for those with multisystem involvement due to their diseases (eg. spasticity, respiratory, swallowing, cardiac complications), and require the expertise of several disciplines. Referall: (613) 544-1894

Amputee Rehabilitation Service Clinic
Assessment and multidisciplinary management for individuals with acquired/congenital limb loss/deficiency. Referral: (613) 548-7222, ext. 2385.
