The Adult Treatment & Rehabilitation Services Program provides specialized treatment to adults with schizophrenia, mood disorders, personality disorders, and dual diagnosis. Interdisciplinary teams care for inpatients (91 beds) and more than 1,000 outpatients in Kingston and Southeastern Ontario. The program has six sub-specialties.
Schizophrenia Rehabilitation Service
Comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation, and support to persons with a recurrent psychotic disorder - the vast majority are adults suffering from schizophrenia. The service includes four inpatient units and several community support services.
Mood Disorder Research and Treatment Service
Specialized care to adults with major depression, bipolar disorders, dysthymia, cyclothymia, anxiety, and other mood disorders. The service includes an inpatient unit, outpatient clinics, therapeutic groups, outreach, and consultation.
Personality Disorder Service
Specialized care for non-psychotic individuals suffering from severe emotional problems. The service includes the Chrysalis Day Program, outpatient groups, outreach, and consultation.
Community Treatment Order Program
This program co-ordinates mental health services for individuals living in Southeastern Ontario who meet the criteria for a Community Treatment Order Application:
* diagnosis of serious mental disorder
* pattern of admission to a psychiatric facility
* a condition that stabilizes with inpatient treatment
* a history of stopping treatment after discharge to the community, and requiring readmission to hospital
Providence Care Mental Health Services assumed administrative responsibility for the Community Treatment Order Program on April 1, 2003, as recommended by the Southeastern Ontario District Community Treatment Order Advisory Committee.
