In May 2007, the Board of Directors approved our new logo and name. "Providence" recognizes our Founders, the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul, and distinguishes the organization as a faith-based care provider. "Care" refers to our Mission Vision and Values, as we provide compassionate care to our patients, residents and clients. Providence Care believes in treating each person with respect, dignity and compassion.
Before design began on the new logo, a survey of stakeholders was completed to gain insight into what sort of imagery and colours staff, physicians and volunteers would like to see reflected in our visual identity.
Based on the results of the research, it was clear people felt a human symbol which could incorporate both a human and spiritual element would express the values most admired in the organization. The colour palette was updated to a richer hue to give the new logo a modern look and feel.
The heart graphic clearly represents the human and spiritual elements. The fact it appears to be "hand drawn" amplifies the human feel. The typography graphically reinforces the fact that Providence Care is about caring -- the word "Care" is literally supporting the word "Providence". The two main colours of purple and red also support caring and compassion.
