The Providence Care Board of Directors is composed of citizens from the geographically diverse communities served by Providence Care who have the expertise and commitment to translate our mission of compassionate care into policies, plans, and programs.
Membership
Five members serve on the Board as part of their administrative roles, including medical staff and one representative of our sponsor, the Catholic Health Corporation of Ontario (CHCO). The remaining members are appointed by the CHCO, with consideration given to a range of criteria including: skills and experience, representation from a variety of communities within the Providence Care catchment region, gender mix, ethnic background, experience as a client or family member with the services of Providence Care, personal integrity and willingness to promote the Mission of the Centre. The term of office is three years, renewable to a total of three terms.
Board Meetings - Open to the Public
The Board fulfils its mandate to promote the mission of the Centre through regular meetings held on the second Thursday of the month from September through June. Meetings are open to the public but seating is limited. Individuals who wish to attend are asked to contact Joanne Trew at 548-7222 ext. 2272.
Advocacy
In recent years, Providence Care has evolved into the leading provider of non-acute health services in Southeastern Ontario. With this growth, the Board of Directors has increased responsibilities to advocate on behalf of patients, residents, clients and staff. Board members fulfil this role by representing Providence Care on a number of key external groups such as the Healthcare Network of Southeastern Ontario and the Joint Executive Planning Committee. During a time of significant service restructuring, the Board will continue to be alert and responsive to the health care needs of individuals and their families.
